The Department has been consistently exploring the path of technical advancement despite the variations in the software education. The department has achieved best results in Bharathidasan University every year. The classroom pedagogy involves lectures, presentations and student seminars. The students are encouraged to actively participate, and challenge themselves in the learning process. Extensive use is made of technology in the teaching process with a centralized repository of academic resources. Department of computer application has a well equipped air conditioned state of the art technology laboratory with 150 computers with LAN facility. Broadband internet facilities up 2Mbps and updated computer books and journals also equip the students. The Students are given Certification course training for Basic Hardware Course and Certification using which a number of students have obtained certifications. .

The Department of Computer Applications has a tripartite mission to enable students acquire good academic skills and devotion to knowledge, to inculcate the values of perseverance, sincerity and honesty, and to empower them to become responsible citizens of this country.

The department was established in 2000. Course offered by the department is Bachelor of Computer Applications which is affiliated to Bharathidasan University Tiruchirapalli. It is a full time course with 6 semesters. Current annual intake is 240 students

The BCA programme provides student with necessary skill to make successful career as it professional in competitive situation with satisfying jobs. It also prepares students with the requisite background to proceed with confidence for higher studies in the form of MCA, MIT, MS in computers, MBA, etc, and thus acquire greater competency. The BCA course structure is spread across six semesters in three years. Each semester comprises of seven papers with a balance combination of theory and practical. The course continent is regular updated to keep peace chances in the business environment. The BCA programme both in regular of aim and scope is very focused in its approach to preparing a student for it and other professions, either directly after graduation or after pursuing a suitable higher degree.
